2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC SUV Engine Specs and Performance

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz GLC is a great crossover for families looking for plenty of space and a premium driving experience. From the high-powered engine to the powertrain’s fuel-efficient performance and the GLC’s luxury interior features, this SUV has plenty of features delight you. At Mercedes-Benz of Hoffman Estates, we’ve got a range of exciting trim options for you to choose from. Our Mercedes-Benz experts can advise you on any aspect of this vehicle’s powertrain and have put together this overview of the engine’s specs to help get you started.
Engine Specifications
The Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 has a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine and a 48-volt hybrid system capable of putting out 255 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque. This peppy but efficient powertrain can shift the SUV from zero to 60 mph in just 6.2 seconds. The hybrid system can’t drive the GLC by itself, but it can bring the vehicle to a swift stop. The main benefit to the hybrid system is its ability to provide some added power while also improving your fuel economy.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC 43 offers considerably more power under the hood, which comes in handy during highway driving. This all-new model for 2024 is equipped with a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a 48-volt hybrid system. Its powertrain combines to put out a healthy 416 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque, giving you more than adequate acceleration on the highway or on city roads. According to Mercedes-Benz, “painstaking craftsmanship” in constructing the engine has ensured the best possible results.
The former AMG® GLC 43 crossover was discontinued after the 2022 model year, but Mercedes-Benz has brought back the nameplate and given its engine a considerable boost in potency to attract new buyers. It can accomplish zero to 60 mph in just 4.7 seconds.
Another new high-performance model to hit our showroom later in 2024 for the 2025 model year is the Mercedes-Benz GLC 63 S E Performance. It will feature a 671-horsepower hybrid powertrain to ensure an even more exciting driving experience.
Performance Features
The standard Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 comes with rear-wheel drive. For added performance, you can upgrade to the 4MATIC® all-wheel drive. This system can actively adjust the power flowing to each wheel to ensure the best performance depending on your Mercedes-Benz SUV’s requirements. You also get some extra ground clearance with the 4MATIC® models to help you navigate trails or other rough terrain.
If you step up to the AMG® GLC 43, you get the more powerful turbocharged engine that was designed with inspiration from Mercedes-Benz’s Formula One team. Its electric exhaust gas turbocharger assists the engine to perform to its best regardless of the rpm.
The upcoming Mercedes-Benz GLC 63’s engine works with a similar concept. It has a larger gas turbocharger compared to the GLC 43, and you’ll also benefit from an electric motor on the rear axle that provides improved traction and balance. Rear-wheel steering gives you added control over your vehicle, and the range of driving modes allows you to tailor the vehicle’s performance to your preferred requirements.
All GLC models benefit from a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel that enables you to monitor your vehicle’s performance, such as your speed, engine performance, fuel levels, and other key indicators.
Fuel Efficiency and Emissions
The best model for fuel economy is the Mercedes-Benz GLC 300. With rear-wheel drive, you can achieve 26 mpg on city roads and 33 mpg on the highway, which gives this SUV the edge over many of its class competitors. Upgrading to all-wheel drive drops the fuel economy slightly to 24 mpg and 32 mpg respectively, but that’s still efficient when you consider the added performance you gain.
The EPA hasn’t tested the GLC 43’s fuel economy numbers at the time of writing. Car and Driver expects it to come in at just under 23 mpg on city roads and 31 mpg on the highway. We don’t know the fuel efficiency numbers for the GLC 63 just yet, but its hybrid powertrain is likely to ensure that it cuts down on emissions despite its impressive horsepower output.
Driving Experience
Sitting behind the wheel of this luxury compact SUV provides an experience that combines comfort with performance. The Mercedes-Benz GLC’s suspension makes sure that any dips and bumps on the road are smoothed out and helps you navigate corners seamlessly.
The cabin is made even more comfortable thanks to synthetic leather or real leather upholstery, depending on your choice of trim. Heated and power-adjustable front seats also come standard, making the driving experience even more enjoyable. Other luxury accessories can be added, including ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated rear seats. The most upscale trim configurations add noise-canceling glass to the windows so you can forget about the highway noise as you cruise along in peace.
The GLC’s excellent driving experience is complimented with an attractive range of infotainment features. The 11.9-inch touch screen makes accessing all your entertainment features a breeze, and the “Hey Mercedes” virtual assistant can perform basic tasks such as adjusting the volume or playing your favorite music. Other important features on offer include a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless device charging, and Bluetooth® connectivity. You can upgrade to get a navigation system and a surround-sound audio system.
