Mercedes EQS 450 SUV

Mercedes-Benz has released its new line of vehicles called Mercedes-EQ. What makes Mercedes-EQ unique is that all the vehicles in this line have an electric drivetrain. Mercedes-EQ represents progressive luxury as the goal of Mercedes-Benz is to craft all-electric vehicles by 2030. The Mercedes EQS Sedan and SUV help capture what S-Class / GLS represents in an all-electric vehicle. I had the pleasure of driving the Mercedes EQS 450 4MATIC® SUV. The exterior of the vehicle is crafted with a sleek and sporty design, complemented by an out-of-this-world front bumper with aggressive accents. I say out of this world because the design is so unique on its own that it describes not only the look but also the driving experience. When entering the Mercedes EQS 450+ SUV, I instantly admired the beautifully designed leather interior. Not only was it aerated for comfort, but it was also plush and helped create a more comfortable atmosphere during my drive. The wood trim within the vehicle added a touch of class as it also carried a color-changing strip of lights that emulated a futuristic feel to my drive. The touchscreen display comes with a vast number of options from customizing how you want the car to perform and how you set up your level of comfort in the car. The first thing I did once I turned the Mercedes EQS SUV on is I adjusted how I wanted my speedometer displayed. The car comes with 4 different modes of driving, ECO, Comfort, Sport, and Individual. ECO reserves as much of the battery power as possible, Comfort mode creates the maximum amount of support for the driver, Individual mode allows you to highlight and select certain features to customize a particular person’s driving experience, and my personal favorite was Sport mode. This was the mode I selected for my drive which gave both motors full power to give me the extra push I wanted. The EQS SUV also allows you to change the dash and speedometer display, so I chose the view that showed how much G-Force I was creating during my drive. It still highlights and displays the speed limit as well as the secondary functions such as lane departure and traction control. I had to look for the start button as it lies within the center console, but as soon as I turned the Mercedes EQS on, I was transported into a different driving experience as I buckled my seat and put the car in reverse. I was caught off guard as the seat belt pulled into me a bit to ensure my safety, yet I didn’t feel any discomfort. As I continued to back the car out, the center display showed the camera view of the entire car and our parking space. Not only does the vehicle have motion-detecting cameras and sensors, but it allows the driver to have a 360-degree view of the vehicle. It made backing out and driving into parking spots effortless.

The best part of the Mercedes EQS SUV was how it performed on the road. This vehicle had to capture the essence of an S-Class, and it did that by how wonderfully it glided over the uneven pavement. The suspension felt like riding on a cloud as every pothole and bump didn’t affect the me or my passengers at all. The suspension separates itself from any other vehicle I’ve driven, and the steering was impeccable by any standards. The way the steering wheel could cut was unbelievable, it made driving an SUV to feel less bulky and more compact and controllable like a modern sedan. Even with Sport mode enabled it still felt like I had complete control of my driving experience. Another enhancement feature is the recuperation functions that can be selected by pressing the paddles on the left and right sides of the vehicle. This function allows the driver to have a loose or tighter feel when accelerating and braking. If I were to compare how this car performs out to the other three Mercedes-EQ models, I would tell you that this feels completely different and elevates the electric drivetrain in a way that no other electric car can. The Mercedes EQS is the flagship of the Mercedes-EQ line for a reason, it has all the features that make an S-class and more. Some key features are the heated steering wheel, front, and back heated seats, massaging seats, and the car sensor feature that allows you to control the distance that you would like the car to maintain from a vehicle in front of you. Since the Mercedes EQS is an SUV it is perfectly spacious enough for passengers or cargo for utility purposes. Under the hood, we have a dual-motor electric drive train that creates 355 horsepower and 419 lbs. of torque with a 0 to 60 time of 4.1 seconds. If you want to try a different driving experience, I would suggest taking any Mercedes EQS out on a test drive and letting the vehicle speak for itself. The Mercedes EQS comes in a variety of trims. Mercedes-Benz offers the EQS 450+ in a Sedan or SUV with the option of 4MATIC® (all-wheel drive) if desired. The most premium version of the Mercedes EQS is the 580 4MATIC® Sedan and SUV that are equipped with all-wheel drive.
